Opening: March 2014
Gefrees is located about 25 kilometers north-east of Bayreuth and is also referred to as the gateway to the Fichtel Mountains. The 44 districts all have their own charm. Whether you are after cross-country skiing, Nordic walking or hiking, fitness-conscious folks will find excellent opportunities right outside the front door. The St. Johannis home is located in the centre of Gefrees on the premises owned by Helsa, opposite the supermarket. The tranquil small town has an excellent infrastructure, with the A9 located two kilometers to the east.
The facility provides space for 44 people in need of care and support. On the first, second and third floors, there are 32 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom apartments ranging from 31 m² to 51 m². If necessary, the apartments can be turned into two-bedroom apartments (e.g. for married couples).
All apartments are designed for senior citizens – they ensure accessibility for the disabled, feature a spacious wheelchair-friendly shower, toilet, space for a nursing bed and nursing aids, a kitchenette, separate bells and letter boxes. The décor and design can be chosen completely freely according to the residents’ own wishes and needs.
There is day-care unit in the building with recreational and rest areas, which is operated by the Bavarian Red Cross and can be used by all the residents in the care facility, as well as external guests. The day-care unit provides space for a total of 71 people in need of nursing and general care and is geared to the needs of the day-care guests. It offers space for cooking and eating meals, employment, leisure and group activities, as well as areas for peace and quiet, rest or a cosy get-together in more familiar company.
