St. Marien home, old village of Altendorf
Our St. Marien home is located in the town of Altendorf in the district of Bamberg. The facility is located right in the centre of the market town, and therefore the church, town hall and shops are all within walking distance. The old town is also known as “Kürbisdorf” (Pumpkin Village), because once a year, a large and much-heralded Pumpkin Festival takes place there, which attracts many visitors to the small town.
The facility provides space for 21 people in need of care and support. On the first, second and third floors, there are 20 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 35 m² to 45 m². If necessary, the apartments can be turned into two-bedroom apartments (e.g. for married couples).
All apartments are designed for senior citizens – they ensure accessibility for the disabled, feature a spacious wheelchair-friendly shower, toilet, space for a nursing bed and nursing aids, a kitchenette, separate bells and letter boxes. The décor and design can be chosen completely freely according to the residents’ own wishes and needs.
The facility has a day-care unit with 283 m² of floor space. It provides space for a total of 25 people in need of nursing and general care and is geared to the needs of the day-care guests. The day-care unit offers space for cooking and eating meals, employment, leisure and group activities, as well as areas for peace and quiet, rest or a cozy get-together in more familiar company.
